On 28 April 2018, Daniel Tay Xiong Sheng, Chief Instructor of Xavier Sport TKD and Fuchun CC PA Trainer, posted the message below on his Facebook.  He made a report to the police and went on to claim that Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) was under criminal investigation.

The STF objected to the posting as it was mischievous and malicious and posted to bring discredit, shame and embarrassment to the organization.  It also undermined the integrity of STF as the governing body for Taekwondo in Singapore and created alarm and confusion among members and those in the taekwondo community.

Despite STF lawyer’s demand, Daniel refused to, among other things, immediately remove the post from his Facebook, issue an apology and undertake not to repeat the statement or make any other false and malicious statements against STF.

The STF is pleased to inform members that the Police, which should be commended for being careful and thorough in its work, has closed the case on 29 September 2018 with the following statement.

“After careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case and in consultation with the Attorney-General’s Chambers, the Police have decided not to take further action against the accused persons, Mr Ng Tian Huat Tony, Mr Darren Lee Thiam Huat  and Ms Wong Liang Ming.

All investigations and enquiries into the matter would cease and the case will be closed.

Whilst STF was certain that they had not breached any laws and safety regulations, we had taken legal advice on the matter and had chosen to await for replies from SportSG and the Police before publishing this clarification.

We understand that Daniel’s social media postings have caused much anxiety amongst members.  At the AGM held on the 29 September 2018, members had unanimously voted that STF should take the necessary action. STF is still taking legal advice on the matter but members are assured that all the allegations by Daniel are unfounded.
