The World Taekwondo Federation has conducted poomsae refresher seminars in the Asian Continent in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (30 April to 2 May 2012) and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (14 to 18 May 2012) to introduce changes to the competition rules and update international referees on the finer points of poomsae performance.
While Tan Kok Heng and Lim Teong Chin attended the seminar in Vietnam, Tan Cheng Hui, Lee Thiam Poh and Wong Liang Ming participated in the seminar in Malaysia.
Although it is tempting to introduce the new rules for the coming National Poomsae Championships, it has been decided to put it on hold as the Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) would like the poomsae referees and coaches to be familiar with them first.
Plans are afoot to organize the poomsae referee refresher course and the poomsae coach upgrading course after the National Poomsae Championships for next year’s competition.
