Almost 40 players exchanged kicks and punches at the selection trials for the Teluk Danga International Games (20 to 24 February 2008, Johor Bahru, Malaysia) and 12th Asian Cities Gold Cup Taekwondo Championships (22 to 24 February 2008, Hong Kong, China).
The trials, held on 2 December 2007 at the National Training Centre, saw a good number of junior players vying for the respective berths.
Aljunied CC fielded the highest number of players. They were rewarded when 10 out of 11 players were selected for the final trials on Sunday, 13 January 2008.
Tan Kok Heng and Lee Thiam Poh, members of the Selection Board, were satisfied with the standard of the participants. They agreed that the players showed a lot of potential. They said that if they continue to train hard, they would have a good future.
The following shortlisted players are to report for training on Monday, 3 December 2007 at 7.30pm at the National Training Centre.
