The Passing of TEAMgOLD Member

Christopher Ong, a member of TEAMgOLD, passed away peacefully this morning at the age of 76 after a long battle with cancer.

Despite the debilitating disease, Christopher’s love of taekwondo did not diminish. He continued to practice regularly with the other members of TEAMgOLD every Sunday. During the period of his illness, he managed to participate in a national poomsae taekwondo championship, earn his promotion to 3rd degree black belt and help the Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) set up a fitness corner.

Over the last few months, the disease took its toll on him. But taekwondo was never far from his mind. In his feeble conditions, he would attend functions organized by TEAMgOLD and the STF.

Christopher had been an inspiration to those who knew him. And his contribution and fighting spirit will be long remembered by them.

The wake is being held at the void deck of Block 115 Whampoa Road. The cortege will leave on Monday, 9 November 2009 at 11.00am for the Church of Sacred Heart at Tank Road. Mass will commence at 11.45am and Christopher will be cremated at 1.30pm.

The STF expresses its condolences to his bereaved family and wishes them strength in overcoming their great loss.
