A few coaches have approached the Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) to have an induction course to be conducted specially for them so that they could qualify for the coach passes in time for the National Inter-School Taekwondo Championships.
After due consideration, the STF has agreed to have a session for them. It will be held on Wednesday 6 April 2016 at 9.00am at STF Conference Room.
The other coaches should take advantage of this opportunity to join in the course as there are many competitions ahead for this year. It is onerous and not time effective to organise the course for a few participants before each tournament.
Please call the Secretariat at 6345 1491 by Tuesday 5 April 2016 to register. Payment may be made before the commencement of the session.
There Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) Secretariat will be closed from 11 to 15 April 2016 and 18 to 22 April 2016 as all staff will be involved in the National Inter-School Taekwondo Championship which will be held during the period at Toa Payoh Sport Hall.
For urgent matters, you may call upon the staff at the Sport Hall.
A briefing for club leaders and coaches on the new grading system will be conducted on Sunday 10 April 2016 at 2.30pm at the National Training Centre.
Please call the Secretariat at 63451491 to register for the session. Seats will be provided for and notes will be given to only those who register by Wednesday 6 April 2016.
You may be inconvenienced if you do not inform the office of your intention to attend the briefing.
The annual National School Taekwondo Championships will kick off with the poomsae and kyorugi competition for international schools on Monday 11 April 2016 at Toa Payoh Sports Hall. After that, the National School Games tournament will commence and the schedule is as follows.
– B & C Divisions (Poomsae) – Monday & Tuesday 18 & 19 April 2016
– B & C Divisions (Kyorugi) – Wednesday & Thursday 20 & 21 April 2016
– A Division (Poomsae) – Friday 22 April 2016
As in all tournaments, referees are required to conduct the competition and help make the event a success. As the Championships are staged on weekdays from 9am to 6pm, it may be difficult for some referees to commit themselves for all the competition days. Therefore, the Singapore Taekwondo Federation would like to know the availability of referees for each day.
If you are officiating in the event, please call any of the Secretariat staff at 63451491 to inform him or her of your availability. Referees who officiated more than 45 hours each in the poomsae or kyorugi tournament will be exempted from the next Referee Refresher Course test and granted a referee grade promotion if you meet all the promotion requirements.
Ky Tu Dang, World Poomsae Champion, paid a courtesy visit to the Singapore Taekwondo Federation office on 29 March 2016. Accompanied by Santos Rivas and Ronnie Liew of J H Kim Taekwondo (Main), he was warmly welcome by the General Manager, Lim Teong Chin. Lim presented him with some souvenirs to commemorate his visit to the office and briefed him on some developments of the organization.
As Mr Milan Kwee, STF President, was not available on that day, Ky Tu sent his best wishes to him. Said Dang, “I look forward to seeing him as it was quite some time since I met him. Never mind, there is always next time.”
Dang was in Singapore as a guest of J H Kim Taekwondo (Main). He shared his extensive knowledge on poomsae with some members of the school who were fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to attend the special session.
