The Annual General Meeting is usually held at the end of June or the early part of July. In view of the tight schedule of the Singapore Taekwondo Federation, the Management Committee proposes to hold the meeting in September or October 2017.
If any affiliate has objection to the proposal, please email the Secretariat at stkdf@mail.com by Monday 10 July 2017.
The Singapore Taekwondo Federation has standardized the completion of the poom confirmation form to help coaches make sense of the evaluation of Red 1 to 1st Poom candidates who have been granted provisional pass.
Based on the attached form, the candidate, Tan Beng Choo, took his first grading for 1st poom under Lim T C who grants him a provisional pass. Following which, he took his confirmation three times under different examiners – Tan C H, Philip Choo and Tan K H.
The crosses in the boxes and the remarks were areas of improvements written by the first examiner, Lim T C. Beng Choo’s coach shall focus on correcting the weaknesses for the next grading. Tan C H assessed the candidate and was satisfied with the areas marked P1 (OK). The candidate met the requirement in some more items in the next grading as indicated, by Philip Choo, P2 (OK). The remaining items were cleared by the final examiner, Tan K H, with P3 (OK).
Candidates will only be tested on the items that require improvement.
Results
All coaches are advised not to inform their candidates the results until they are officially released.
Coaches who wish to know the results early to start preparing their students for the next grading may request to have a look at the results if they have settled the grading fees in full. This is allowed only at the Secretariat.
Dress Code
For grading, the dress code includes the prohibition on the use of objects such as eyeglasses (during sparring), rings, necklaces, watches, bracelets, earrings and other adornments.
Irremovable religious item, which is unsafe for the wearer or poses danger to the other candidate, has to be appropriately covered or secured. The coach is expected to draw the attention of the examiner if such item is worn.
All coaches should inform parents and candidates of the dress code including the wearing of plain white round neck T-shirt for female candidates so that the children come prepared. In addition to that, coaches should ensure that their candidates observe the dress code before allowing them to appear before the examiners.

STF President, Mr Milan Kwee, has been re-elected unopposed for another term as Council member of the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC). The election was conducted at the SNOC Annual General Meeting held on 1 June 2017.
In the past Council members were elected annual. It was decided in the last annual meeting, that henceforth Council would serve a 2-year term.
Mr Kwee has been a Council member for 5 years. During his tenure, he was appointed as the Chairman, Organizing Committee of the Singapore Sports Awards and, more recently, Chef de Mission for Team Singapore at the SEA Games 2017.
The taekwondo community is proud of his achievements and congratulates him on the re-election which shows that the other sports leaders value his contributions.
It seems that Para Taekwondo is on a roll. For the second time (and second month in a row) a Para-Taekwondo athlete has been nominated for athlete of the month by the IPC!!
This time it is Evan Medell from USA that has been nominated for his win over world number one from Croatia, Ivan Miculic in the K44 Male over 75 kg division, at the Oceania Para Taekwondo Open.
Please cast your votes for Evan on www.paralympic.org. Voting ends on Thursday 8 June 2017.
The retest for the Poomsae Coach Upgrading Course was held on Sunday 22 May 2017 at the STF Natioanl Training Centre and the overall results are attached.
For successful participants, they must upgrade their coach pass by Wednesday 7 June 2017 to be able to accompany their students into the field of play for the National Poomsae Championships. Temporary access will NOT be given to those who failed to do so.
Coaches who have received the Level 3 qualification MUST also upgrade their coach pass to reflect the correct and current level.
The annual Kyorugi Referee Refresher Seminar will be held on Saturday 15 July 2017 from 5.00pm to 10.00pm.
The venue will be announced at a later date.
All active kyorugi referees must attend the seminar to have their licenses to officiate extended by a year. Coaches who are national referees are also encouraged to participate in the seminar. The knowledge will be invaluable to them if they wish to continue to be effective coaches.
Kyorugi referees with expired licenses may also attend the seminar. Their licenses will be renewed if they pass the assessment which will be conducted at the end of the seaminar for all participants.
As the provision of referees is a pre-condition for participation in all STF organized or sanctioned tournaments, it is important for clubs to have their own pool of qualified referees.
The seminar will cover, among other things, the latest amendments to the competition rules and regulations.
Participants are to come prepared with their ‘dobok’ and writing materials. They should be well prepared for the numerous tests which will be conducted to ensure that they are fit mentally and physically to officiate. They should also be ready to recite the pledges. Those who fail in any of the tests will have to be retested within a week or so.
We plan to end the seminar punctually. However, if the overwhelming number of participants does not allow us to do so, they must be prepared for the seminar to end later.
The registration fees are as follows.
– Closing date : Monday 10 July 2017 – $30.00 – After closing date – $50.00
The registration form is available in the Forms folder.
