Coaches Wanted at ITE College East
ITE College East is in the process of looking for coaches .
The qualifications and requirements are as follows.
1. Must have at least NCAP (National Coaching Accreditation Programme) Level 1 Coaching Certificate or equivalent eg. NROC (National Registry of Coaches) in relevant fields.
2. Must possess at least a 1st Dan certification from the Singapore TKD Federation
3. Must possess a valid First Aid certification during the stated contract period.
4. Must have prior coaching experiences with post-secondary students.
5. Must have previously coached in ITE
6. Must be able to coach at the POL-ITE (Polytechnic games/ tournaments)

Completion of Poomsae Referee Course Practical Attachment
Participants in the Poomsae Referee Course (March 2017) are reminded that they have to complete their 10 hours practical attachment by the National Taekwondo Poomsae Championships.
Please take note of the following which had been announced during the course.
– Those who have completed the attachment at the National Inter-Schools Championships may represent their clubs as referees in the National Poomsae. The list of successful participants would be released on the website soon.
– Those who have not completed the attachment at the National Inter-Schools may do the reminding hours at the National Poomsae. They will not be able to represent their clubs.
– Those who do not complete the attachment by the National Poomsae will be considered as being unsuccessful in the course.

2017 SYOF Taekwondo Championships
The 6th Singapore Youth Olympic Festival (SYOF 2017) Taekwondo Championships will be held on 8 July and 9 July 2017 at Woodlands Sports Complex.

For this year’s competition, please note the following information.
· The organizers will not accept incomplete submission. Submission after the closing date – that is, 15 June 2017 (Thu) by 1600hrs – will be rejected.
· Participating team must provide at least one referee per every 30 participants for the duration of the championships to qualify for participation. The referee may not be the same person. For example, it is acceptable for a club to submit four referees, one each for every competition day. A club will be barred from future participation if its referee fails to fulfill his or her obligations without the approval of the Tournament Chairman.
· Each affiliate is allowed to field in more than one player per weight category per division for Kyorugi event .And No limit to the number of participants a club can field for the Poomsae event.
· The eligibility grade for the championships shall be based on April 2017 (Second quarter grading season ) grading or the player’s last grading before April 2017 if he or she did not take his or her grading in that season.
· Weigh-in shall be conducted on the competition day . During Weigh-in contestant shall wear T-shirt & short. However , weigh-in may be conducted in the nude if the contest wishes to do so (Inside room). There will be only one weigh-in. Players who are over weight or under weight shall be disqualified. A weigh-in machine similar to the one used for the official weigh-in shall be provided for the players to check their weight before they are officially weighed. No weight allowance will be given.
· Male and female players are required to wear the following equipment on entering the arena: head gear, trunk protector, forearm guard, shin guard groin guard, gloves and mouth piece.
· Daedo PSS equipment will be issue to the contestants
· Doctor’s clearance will be required for those with pre-existing medical conditions

UNARMED COMBAT COURSE (LEVEL 2) FOR POOM AND BLACK BELT HOLDERS (MAY 2017)
The Unarmed Combat Course (Level 2) will be held on 20 & 21 May 2017 and 3 & 4 June 2017 at the STF National Training Centre.

2nd Important Announcements For National Poomsae
Club officials are to take note of the following important annoucements for the National Poomsae Championships.
– The competition will be held on Saturday & Sunday 10 & 11 June 2017 at Jurong East Sports Hall. An updated copy of the Information Sheet is attached.
– The closing date has been extended to Wednesday 17 May 2017.
– All participants for Pair events (1st Poom / 1st Dan & above) will perform Taeguek Pal Jang & Koryo (please refer to page 6 of the Information Sheet)
A team manager meeting will be conducted at least 2 weeks before the tournament to brief them on the tournament procedures and more. All club officials and coaches are advised to look out for the announcement.
Vote for Rwanda Para Taekwondo Athlete for IPC Allianz Athlete of the Month
Mr. Jean Claude Niringiyimana, from Rwanda was nominated as Allianz Athlete of the month of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).
It is the first time that a Para Taekwondo athlete was nominated for Allianz Athlete of IPC.
Niringiyimana upset the world elite in his first ever international Para taekwondo tournament when he clinched the silver in the men’s under 61kg K44 at the African Para Taekwondo Open.
The Singapore Taekwondo Federation encourages all affiliates and their members to support the candidate.

Credible Performances at International Competitions
Our players gave credible performances at the following 2 international competitions which saw them finishing top in some of their events.
– 13th ASEAN Taekwondo Championships
(23 to 25 March 2017 in Perlis, Malaysia)
– Asian Cities Taekwondo Championships
(22 & 23 April 2017 in Hong Kong)
In the ASEAN Championships, Ng Ming Wei clinched the silver medal in the Men Under 54kg, losing narrowly to his Vietnamese opponent. The team came back with 1 silver and 8 bronze medals. The team also won the overall 2nd runner-up trophies in the Poomsae Junior & Senior Divisions.
After the outing in Perlis, the team was on full swing and outdid themselves by winning 7 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals.

NCAP (Level 1) Technical Course Results (J H Kim Bukit Timah)
The results for the NCAP (Level 1) Technical Course held at J H Kim Bukit Timah in February/March 2017 are attached.
Those participants who are successful are required to complete 3 months (twice a week) or 6 months (once a week) of practical coaching attachment. Trainee coaches can have their choice of schools or clubs approved by the STF for their attachment.
Form A must be returned to the STF at least two (2) weeks before they start their coaching attachment. Attachment without prior approval of STF will not be accepted.
Form B is for trainee coaches to record their attendance. It must be counter-signed by their respective club officials.
The two forms are available in the ‘Forms’ folder.
On receipt of the completed Form B, the STF will issue certificates to coaches only after having satisfied that the coaches have fulfilled their obligations. Practical attachment must be complete within 2 years of the announcement of the results. After that, the results will be considered null and void.
Please read the following important notes pertaining to the retest.
- A retest will be conducted on Monday 15 May 2017 at the J H Kim Bukit Timah for those who fail either the theory, practical or both components or pledge. Theory retest will begin at 7.00pm followed by practical at 8.00pm.
- Those who are interested must register for the retest by Tuesday 9 May 2017. Candidates must call the Secretariat at 6345 1491 to register and payment may be made at the venue before the retest. The registration fee is $20 per component. However, on the spot registration for the retest is $30 per component.
- Candidates for the practical retest are required to bring along a new lesson plan.
- Result pending resubmission of lesson plan must be made by Monday 15 May 2017 at the STF office. The lesson plan may be posted to the Coaching Chairman, Singapore Taekwondo Federation, 260A Tanjong Katong Road Singapore 437048.
- Participants are advised to read their notes to prepare for the theory retest.
Important Announcements for National Poomsae
Club officials and coaches are advised to take note of the following changes and inclusion in the competition outline of the Nattional Poomsae Championships.
– The grades will be based on the highest grade obtained on or before January 2017 – the first quarter grading season.
– The first and second poomsae for 1st Poom / 2nd Poom & higher / 1st Dan / 2nd Dan & higher divisions have been revised (please refer to Page 6 of the Information Sheet).
– The team events have been re-categorized into 6 divisons (please refer to Page 6 of the Information Sheet).
