61 students from Hwa Chong Institute, Jurong Junior College, Pioneer Junior College, Serangoon Junior College and Temasek Junior College participated in the joint-training programme organized by Serangoon Junior College under the guidance of Coach Lee Yen Yen. It was held on 19 November 2007 at the National Training Centre (NTC).
The programme offered participants the opportunity not only to learn new skills but also experience training in a place where champions are developed. It also provided an avenue for them to interact, network and cross-fertilize training ideas.
National Coach Wong Liang Ming conducted the training and was happy with the outcome.
Said Coach Wong: “I am glad that the students responded well to the training. They were all very enthusiastic to learn. And most importantly, I believe, they enjoyed the training. That motivated me to teach them more.”
During the training, the participants had a surprised visit by officials from the Singapore Sports Council (SSC) and the Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF).
Mr Ho Mun Wai (Director, SSC), Mr Yong Teck Chuan (Relationship Manager, SSC), Mr Tan Cheng Han (now Advisor, STF), Mr Milan Kwee (President, STF) and Mr Lim Teong Chin (GM, STF) observed the training after they were introduced to the participants.
Affiliates should take the cue from Coach Lee by organizing special training at the NTC. Contact the Secretariat at 63451491 if you are interested to arrange training at the NTC exclusively for your members.
