72 teams from 23 clubs competed for the overall title in the Whampoa CC Poomsae Tournament held on 30 July 2006 at Whampoa CC. Singapore Polytechnics with 4 gold medals won it despite strong competition from its nearest rivals Mayflower Primary School and Paya Lebar Kovan CC. The annual tournament, 7th in the series, was popular because it was not only well organized but also gave participants an almost level playing field. At the end of the day, all teams walked home with some prizes.
Mr. Milan Kwee, President of the Singapore Taekwondo Federation, made a brief visit to witness the event. He was glad to see so many young participants enjoying the competition.
Mr Heng Chee How, Minister of State for Ministry of Health and MP for Jalan Besar, was the guest of honour. He took the opportunity to interact with the parents and supporters at the event and gave away the prizes.
