Historic Accomplishment by Team Singapore Virtual Taekwondo Athletes at the inaugural Singapore 2024 World Taekwondo Virtual Championships

The Singapore 2024 World Taekwondo Virtual Taekwondo Championships was held on 16 and 17 November at the Singapore Sports Hub.

The Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) Local Organising Committee (LOC) welcomed approximately 120 athletes, including a refugee athlete and about 50 officials from around the world to this inaugural world event. This World Championships mark another significant step
forward for Virtual Taekwondo and Singapore is privileged and honoured to be the host country.

Our TS Virtual Taekwondo athletes delivered an exceptional performance with a medal tally of four (4) Gold, four (4) Silver, and one (1) Bronze, finishing at the top of the medal table among 23 participating Members National Associations and one Individual Neutral Athlete
(AIN) Team.

This marks a historic achievement for Singapore at the world stage in Taekwondo. Guided by the STF Virtual Taekwondo Committee and Coaching team, we are proud to share the results of this event.

A special thanks to Ms. Alison Tan, the team physiotherapist, for her exceptional care and dedication to the athletes. Additionally, the STF extends its sincere appreciation to Kwon for generously sponsoring the athletes’ competition attire for this championship.

With the success of presenting Virtual Taekwondo Championships to the global Taekwondo Community, the STF is earnestly looking forward to Virtual Taekwondo being included in Major Games in the near future.

UPDATE ON CLOSED SELECTION FOR 33RD SOUTHEAST ASIAN GAMES (SEA GAMES) 2025

The 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) is scheduled to be held from 9 December to 20 December 2025 in Bangkok-Chonburi and Songkhla, Thailand.

The STF will be conducting a Closed Selection for the 33rd SEA Games.

Please be informed that the closed selection for 33rd SEA Games Poomsae Event will remain on 11 – 13 April 2025 while the closed selection for 33rd SEA Games Kyorugi Event has been rescheduled to 29 – 30 March 2025 due to an update in the calendar of International Championships.

Important Notes:

  • The Closed Selection is only open to athletes in the STF 2025 National Development Squad (NDS).
  • Registration and selection details for Kyorugi Events will be sent to STF 2025 NDS athletes via email by 14 March 2025.
  • Registration and selection details for Poomsae Events will be sent to STF 2025 NDS athletes via email by 24 March 2025.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to all inquiries (walk-ins, emails, telephone, etc.) promptly and professionally.
  • Follow up with customers to resolve any issues and ensure satisfaction.
  • Manage class bookings, including make-up and trial classes.
  • Explain the sign-up process and assist with enrollment.
  • Process payments and manage financial transactions.
  • Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Proficient in English and Mandarin (for interacting with Mandarin-speaking customers).
  • Female candidates preferred (for assisting very young female students during classes).
  • Cheerful and enthusiastic disposition.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to interact politely with customers.
  • Ability to multitask and work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Initiative to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.

Relevant administrative experience is preferred, but candidates without experience may also be considered.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  1. For Foundation to Red 2, grading can only be done by qualified Grading Assessors who have successfully completed the Grading Assessor Accreditation Course and have applied for a valid Assessor licence.

  2. Submission for the Grading can only be at the STF office during office hours.
  3. Please ensure that ALL grading cards are properly completed and duly endorsed. A recent photograph of the candidate must be attached

  4. For ALL candidates who are going for 1st Dan/Poom & above, please have the following documents during submission:
    a) Candidate’s grading card
    b) 1 recent IC / passport photograph of the candidate
    c) Form B (duly completed)

Submission will not be accepted if any of the documents is not available or, for Form B, partially completed.

  1. Submission will not be accepted if candidate fails to produce any of the documents mentioned above
  1. The last day of submission (Junior Red 1 & above, Senior Red 1 to 3rd Dan) is on 25 March 2025 (Tuesday). Any submission after this date will be considered as LATE SUBMISSION
  1. Late submissions for candidates taking Red 1 & above are to be done within two (2) weeks from 26 March 2025 (Wednesday). Submission beyond the grace period of two (2) weeks WILL NOT be accepted. An administrative fee will be charged accordingly for late submission within grace period. The charges are as follows:

50% of the grading fee payable by candidates for their respective grades.
  1. A roll call will be taken at 1.30pm for Red 1 (Senior) candidates going for 1st dan and 2.30pm for 1st dan and higher candidates. Those who miss the roll call will be considered as ABSENT or LATECOMERS. Latecomers will not be graded.
  2. Candidates are to turn up in proper dress code (as stipulated by the STF) for the grading. Candidates who fail to comply with the dress code will not be allowed to take the grading.
  3. Supplementary Grading can only be conducted two (2) weeks before or after the Centralised Grading and will be subjected to the approval of the Grading Department.
  4. While STF will take reasonable measures to ensure the safety of the grading procedure, Candidates will take all reasonable steps to ensure their own safety at all times and will not hold the Federation, the Grading Department or any of its servants, employees or agents responsible for any such injuries, accidents or mishaps that may befall on them during the course of the grading.

SUPPLEMENTARY GRADING

1. For clubs that wish to conduct supplementary grading for Junior 1st Poom to 4th Poom, a minimum number of 25 candidates is required.

2. Please register with the STF Secretariat by 25 March 2025 (Tuesday).

3. An examiner will be assigned by the Federation after the closing date.

COLOUR BELTS

  1. The last day of submission for colour belts (club grading) is on 16 May 2025 (Friday). Any submission after this date will be considered as LATE SUBMISSION.
  2. An administrative fee of SGD 5.00 will be charged for late submission of candidates taking all other grades except Brown 1 & above.

SENIOR 4TH DAN & ABOVE

  1. The schedule of the grading will be announced after the closing date.
  2. For those that are doing feats (senior 5th and 6th Dan), please submit to the grading department via email (stf.grading@gmail.com) on what you are going to perform for your feats before 17 April 2025 (Thursday).
  3. For the thesis component, candidates have to submit their thesis latest by 16 May 2025 (Friday). Thesis have to be emailed in to stf.grading@gmail.com
  4. The last day of submission for Senior 4th Dan & above is on 17 April 2025 (Thursday).
