Appointment Of Acting Ceo

The Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Malik Aljunied as its Acting CEO with effect from 1 May 2021. 

Malik, the former Executive Director of the Singapore Athletics, will be seconded to the STF from the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC).  As a former national athlete, coach and sports administrator, Malik has held different roles within the sports fraternity. He has also served national service in the Singapore Armed Forces, Singapore Police Force, and Singapore Civil Defence Force for more than three decades.  Malik has worked with the Ministry of Education as a head of department, at the Singapore Sport Institute as a deputy director as well as leading sport events management and security services consultancies as their CEO. Malik’s experience in sport administration included heading the character and leadership development division at Sport Singapore before taking on the executive director role at Singapore Athletics. He is currently leading a pilot initiative to provide support services to national sports associations. 

The incumbent CEO, Mr Phoi Kwok Eng, will be leaving to pursue his personal interests.  His last day of service with STF is on 11 May 2021. 

We are thankful to Phoi for his service and contribution, and look forward to welcoming Malik to the STF family.

Stricter Safe Management Measures For Sport And Physical Exercise & Activity (8 To 30 May 2021)

On 4 May 2021, the Multi-Ministry Taskforce announced that with effect from 8 to 30 May 2021, there will be tightening of safe management measures to curb the transmission of COVID-19 within the community.

Please see attached STF’s Advisory for Taekwondo Activities for stricter safe management measures for sport and physical exercise & activity (8 May to 30 May 2021) – Annex 1

The Advisory is based on the latest guidelines from SportSG and other relevant authorities.

Affiliates are to take guidance from these guidelines in developing their safe management plan (hereinafter referred to as “Plan”). These guidelines have to be incorporated into the safe management measures required by the Ministry of Manpower issued on 9 May and updated on 22 October 2020 (“Requirements for Safe Management Measures at the workplace).

Appointment of Experienced Coach & Assistance Coach – YONGIN TKD (Ang Mo Kio Branch)

YONGIN TKD (Ang Mo Kio branch) would like to invite suitably qualified personnel to apply for experienced coach & assistance coach at our training centre.

The details are as followed:

Experienced coach & Assistance coach:

  • Females and Males are welcome to apply

Working hours:

  • Weekdays from 2pm to 9:30pm & Weekends from 8:30am to 6pm
  • Entitled rest days: Every Mondays and Public holidays

For Experienced Coaches

– Minimum 5 years of experience teaching TKD in Singapore or overseas

– Able to conduct a full lesson in English.

– Instructors who are able to conduct general lessons, Poomsae competition lessons, Demonstration lessons, Adult classes.

Benefits:

  1. Monthly Salary SGD$4000~

– Will be confirmed upon discussion

  1. Commission pay of $300~$500

– After grading every 3 months, to be determined by the number of students participating

– For every Competition or Holiday classes, to be determined by the number of students enrolled

  1. Guaranteed Summer and Winter holidays (fixed dates) of 10 days and 20 days respectively.

* Priorities will be given to those with certificates and licenses such as Coaching license and Referee license

For Assistant Coaches

Addendum to Annex 1 of the 31st SEA Games Athlete Selection Policy published on 19 February 2021

In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, SNOC will assess nominations of athletes by STF to the 31st SEA Games 2021 based on a wider parameter including the following:

1.  Review of the last 2 or 3 SEA Games performances and assess the trend in results and trend in the number of athletes selected per discipline.

2.  Extend the selection window back to include results from SEA Games 2019. (Top 3 finish).

3.  Assessment and projections at the 31st SEA Games.

Validity of Coach Pass

The National School Games will be held this year and many coaches have asked regarding the validity of their coach passes. Understanding that many affiliates and coaches were affected by COVID-19, the Federation wishes to extend support and goodwill to our affiliates and coaches by implementing these  interim measures on coach passes under the following circumstances:

  1. Existing valid coach pass holders shall be renewed for one year to 31 March 2022 with the coach pass fee payment waived.
  2. Coaches with the requisite STF certifications but who have not applied for coach passes shall be allowed to apply for a Temporary Coach Pass by paying a fee equivalent to 50% of prevailing coach pass fees. Temporary Coach Passes are only valid for one tournament and coaches have to apply for another Temporary Coach Pass if they wish to coach for another tournament.
  3. Coaches without the requisite Coach Pass who have attended an induction course and is able to produce the relevant STF certifications can apply for a Coach Pass by paying a fee equivalent to 50% of the prevailing coach pass fees. This pass will be valid to 31 March 2022.

This course aims to help qualified Poomsae Level 1 coaches to better understand the requirements of Taegeuk to Shipjin poomsaes and know how to better guide their charge/juniors.

2021 National School Games Taekwondo Championships Technical Officials (Poomsae Referee)

We are pleased to announce that the National School Games (“NSG”) is back this year. 

As a landmark collaboration with MOE, this serves as a call out for our Technical Officials (Poomsae Referee) to be part of this year’s NSG..

Due to COVID-19, this year’s NSG refereeing shall be through the review of video recordings of the students’ performances.

Video analysis judging will take place from 17 to 20 May 21 at PSOEB, 20 Evans Road. The reporting time for all the days will be at 7.30AM. In addition, there will be two session of video analysis judging. You may choose to stay for both session or pick a session.

Session 1: 8.00AM – 1.00PM

Session 2: 1.00PM – 6.00PM

Due to the strong sign-up expected for this year’s competition, we will require  20 Technical Officials daily. Please state in your email which session you will like to attend.

Qualified referees with valid Poomsae referee licence who are keen to sign up as Technical Officials (Poomsae Referee) and be part of the 2021 National School Games may submit your application (Annex 1) via email to enquiry@stf.org.sg Friday 7 May 2021, 6.00PM.  We regret that we are not able to include any late submission for registration.

2021 National School Games Taekwondo Championships (Poomsae)

STF is pleased to announce that the National School Games (“NSG”) Taekwondo Championships will be held as follows:

  • All entries must be submitted through the e-Registration portal at http://nsg.moe.edu.sg/nis on or before the stipulated closing date.          
  • Individual can participate in 1 individual (Poomsae) and 1 team event (Poomsae) for SPSSC & SSSC
  • All participants, coaches & officials are required to comply with health declaration, temperature checks, Safe‐Entry and/or Trace‐Together Token for entry at the competition venue                      
  • All participating schools will be assigned specific reporting time for the competition.
  • TKD uniformed is to be worn in school before leaving for competition venue.
  • For more information regarding the NSG, students may approach their school teacher in charge directly.
