The Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) Para Taekwondo Sub-Committee would like to shout out to any interested parties to join the upcoming PlayBuddy programme for children with special needs.
The programme will give volunteers the opportunity to reach out to children will special needs and teach them the art of taekwondo.
Volunteers should hold a Level 1 coaching pass at minimum. Experience with children with special needs is not necessary but will be beneficial.
The PlayBuddy programme was founded by Dr Teoh Chin Sin in 2016 as a free volunteer-based programme where children meet and play sport weekly. In 2023, STF successfully collaborated with Dr Teoh, and held four classes in November.
This year, the programme will be held on:
Group one:
5, 12, 19, 26 October 2024 (Saturday)
9.30am to 11am
Group two:
3, 10, 17, 24 November 2024 (Sunday)
9.30am to 11am

UPDATE – SINGAPORE TAEKWONDO FEDERATION OPEN SELECTION FOR WORLD TAEKWONDO POOMSAE CHAMPIONSHIPS (ONLY APPLICABLE FOR CERTAIN AGE DIVISIONS)
The Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) will be organising an Open Selection for aspiring athletes to participate in the Hong Kong 2024 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships. The Open Selection will only be opened to the Under 40 Division, Under 50 Division, Under 60 Division, Under 65 Division and Over 65 Division for Recognised Poomsae events.
The information for the Selection is as follows:
Date: 18 August 2024, Sunday
Venue: STF Bedok National Training Centre (Address: 7 Bedok North Street 2, Singapore 469646)
Time: 11am to 3pm
The Selection Policy for the Hong Kong 2024 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships are attached as Annex 1.
Eligibility & Submission
All participating athletes must be SINGAPORE CITIZENS and are STF Black belt holders.
To register participation in the Open Selection for Hong Kong 2024 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships, the attached form (Annex 2) must be completed and emailed to hpexec@stf.org.sg and stkdf@mail.com by Tuesday, 13 August 2024.
Selection On the days of selection, registered individuals who are unwell, on Leave of Absence, Stay-Home Notice or contagious diseases should not attend the event.
VIRTUAL TAEKWONDO (VTKD) REFEREE, GAME MASTER SPECIALIST AND VTKD TECHNIAL SUPPORT SPECIALIST COURSE
The Virtual Taekwondo (VTKD) Referee, Game Master Specialist and VTKD Technical Support Specialist Course will be held on 24 August and 25 August 2024, at the STF Bedok National Training Centre. This course, open to Black Belt holders who are qualified Poomsae or Kyorugi referees, offers a unique opportunity for personal and professional growth. Participants who complete the course and qualify as Virtual Referees, Game Master Specialists, and Technical Support Specialists may have the opportunity to serve as Technical Officials at the inaugural World Taekwondo Virtual Championships .
Participants who sign up for this course will enjoy a 50% discount on the usual course fee of $100.00 as part of Singapore Taekwondo Federation’s 50th-anniversary celebration.

What is the role about?
You will be primarily responsible to develop and train the elite Poomsae athlete/s to achieve podium success at Major Games and International Competitions.
Role Summary
Under the supervision of STF’s High Performance Committee and working closely with the Secretariat and the Coaching Team, the Coach (Poomsae / Freestyle Poomsae) will be responsible in the following areas:
- To develop and deliver customised individual recognised and freestyle poomsae training plan including training programme for elite Poomsae athlete/s within the first 2 weeks of employment.
- To track and provide monthly written report of the progress of the elite Poomsae athlete/s to the Coaching Team and STF High Performance Committee.
- To review the training plan and programme if required, to meet the training goals.
- To train the elite Poomsae athlete/s in preparation for the various international competitions and to achieve the targets set for the elite Poomsae athlete/s at the various international competitions. Podium finish at 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games and Top 8 position at 2024 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships.
- To coach the elite Poomsae athlete/s during overseas trainings and competitions.
- To maintain records of the sessions conducted to the Coaching Team and STF High Performance Committee.
- To ensure that appropriate supervision, directly or indirectly, is provided to athletes during training.

- Experience in choreography of new creative Freestyle Poomsae with music
- Asian Games medalist or equivalent desired
- Proven records of athletes’ achievement at regional/international championships and major Games preferred
- Minimum 3 years of international coaching experience desired
