All affiliated club leaders, coaches and their members are cordially invited to witness the opening of this year’s Singapore Youth Olympic Festival on Saturday 7 July 2018 at 10.30am at Toa Payoh Sports Hall.
Your attendance will lend support and add to the celebratory mood of the opening of the event. It is important for taekwondo members to be there because the opening ceremony is organized by the Singapore Taekwondo Federation. It will be followed by the SYOF taekwondo tournament which is well subscribed.
The Guest of Honor for the event is Mr Ng Ser Miang, Executive Member of International Olympic Committee and Honorary Chairman of Kukkiwon (World Taekwondo Headquarters).
The annual Kyorugi Referee Refresher Course will be held on Saturday 14 July 2018 from 6.00pm to 10.00pm at Toa Payoh Sports Hall.
Participants are to take note that the test date has been changed to Friday 3 August 2018 from 7.00pm at Toa Payoh Sports Hall. The following tests will be conducted.
– Theory
– Practical (including scoring)
Those who fail in any of the tests will have to be retested within a week or so. Only referees who have successfully completed the course will have their licence renewed for one year.
We are excited to inform you that this is the first year Taekwondo will be making debut in the GetActive!SG (GA!SG) Singapore National Games 2018!
Competition will take place on 4 & 5 August 2018 at Toa Payoh Sports Hall and we want YOU to be part of the Games.

Qualified referees who are keen to sign up as Technical Officials (Referee) for Singapore National Games 2018 may submit your application form via email to fong_yee_min@sport.gov.sg by 4.00pm on Tuesday 3 July 2018. Late submission will not be entertained.

The overall results after the retest for the NCAP (Level 2) Technical Course held in February/March 2017 are attached.
Those who have successfully completed the course must upgrade their pass soonest possible. Otherwise they will not be allowed to accompany their players into the field of play in national level competitions.
We apologize for the delay as we had to collate the results as some candidates took their retest later on valid and acceptable grounds. We thank all participants for their patience.

Successful candidates for the Fundamental course will be exempted from sparring when they go for their red 1 to 1st poom / dan grading and those with Level 1 will be exempted from sparring for 1st poom / dan to 2nd poom / dan.
Participants with Fundamental certification may attend the next Level 1 course.
For successful candidates in the Level 1 course, they may attend the Level 2 course which will be held on Sunday 24 June 2018. More details are available in the website.
STF President, Milan Kwee, together with Dr Ben Tan, Dr Tan Eng Liang and Mrs Jessie Phua were elected unopposed at the SNOC annual general meeting held on Tuesday 5 June 2018 at Raffles Town Club.
He and Dr Ben Tan received the highest number of votes at the meeting and will each serve four years as SNOC Vice-Presidents.
Mr Kwee, who was chef de mission at last year’s SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur, hopes to raise the level of Singapore sports.
He said, “We can only succeed if we bring everybody together to work in the same direction. We can then achieve a lot for the betterment of sport in Singapore.”
The Singapore Taekwondo Federation and taekwondo community congratulate Mr Kwee on his newest appointment!

The workshop is open to red (senior and junior), poom and black belt holders. Senior Red 1 and black belt holders are reminded that they will be required to recite the STF pledge at the end of the workshop.
The primary objective of the workshop is to point out to participants their performance flaws and the areas they should work on from the examiners’ perspective. This will give the candidates a better chance of passing.
During the workshop, participants will be briefed on the grading guidelines and the expectations of the examiners.
Coaches may use the information acquired by their students at the workshop as a basis to guide them for their grading.
All candidates who have attended the workshop are reminded to submit a copy of the certificate of participation with their grading applications.
For red (junior) and 1st poom candidates, a copy of the certificate should be attached to their grading cards. This is necessary for the examiners to give them special consideration, if required.

Coaches who are not kyorugi referees are encourage to attend the Kyorugi Referee Refresher Seminar which will be held on Saturday 14 July 2018 at 6.00pm at Toa Payoh Sports Hall.
The seminar would cover, amongst other things, the latest competition rules which would be implemented at the National Taekwondo Kyorugi Championships in September 2018. It will be an advantage for coaches to have first hand knowledge of the new rules to prepare their students for the tournament.
They are only required to attend the theory session which would commence at 6.00pm.
Interested coaches may register for the seminar by Monday 9 July 2018. The registration fee is $32.10. Late fee is applicable after the closing date.
