Joint public announcement on the Wong Liang Ming vs Singapore Taekwondo Federation defamation case 2020

  1. The Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) is pleased to announce the settlement of the dispute between former STF Secretary General and Head Coach, Ms Wong Liang Ming and STF.
  2. On 18 September 2020, Ms Wong Liang Ming commenced a claim for defamatory remarks purportedly made by STF in relation to the announcement dated 19 May 2020 on her suspension.
  3. Through a series of mediations, negotiation and discussion, parties have arrived at an amicable resolution to the matter. The terms of the settlement shall remain strictly confidential, and parties hope to be able to move on for the betterment of Taekwondo.
  1. STF acknowledges Ms Wong’s significant contributions to the development, growth and promotion of Taekwondo for over 40 years, as a national athlete, coach and sports administrator, both locally and internationally..
  2. With this closure, the STF Board wishes Ms Wong well in her future endeavours and affirms STF’s commitment and resolve to focus on sport development and pursuit of Sports Excellence.

STF receives regular updates from MOH, MTF and SportSG on the status and progressive precautionary measures to be taken in preventing the transmission of the COVID-19 virus. The information shared are directives for compliance, in the form of advisories and FAQs.

Given that our Taekwondo fraternity operates in different social circles, venues and sporting environment, we need to be mindful of the precautions required for the different stakeholders and age profiles.

We seek the full and complete cooperation of all our stakeholders (athletes, coaches, affiliates, venue owners and parents) to be attentive and responsive to the latest directives. Affiliates & Coaches will be responsible to enforce the requirements onsite. Failure to comply is against the law and violators will be subject to prosecution.

Online 2021 ATU Club Poomsae OPEN Championships

We refer to the Online 2021 ATU Club Poomsae OPEN Championships organised by Asian Taekwondo Union.


Registration for this Open category competition opens on 25 October 2021 and ends on 2 November 2021.


For Affiliates keen to register their students for the Open category competition, please email to stkdf@mail.com for STF’s approval before you proceed to register with the Organiser at their website link detailed in the Competition materials attached to this circular for your easy reference.

Announcement on 182nd Grading Exercise

182nd  Grading in November 2021

For Seniors (above 15 years of age and above)

The grading will be assessed on the 21st November 2021. The last day for video submission will be 10th November  2021. Criteria for grading will remain the same as the 181st. (Up to 2nd going to 3rd Dan only).

All videos for senior red 1 and above (Up to 2nd going to 3rd Dan only) must be pre-recorded and email to stf.grading@gmail.com by the 10th November 2021.  

Closing date for registration will be on 1st  November  2021 by the clubs for  Senior Grading.

For Foundation and Colour belts

Foundation up to Red 2 will be graded by their respective club’s 4th Dan coaches.

All videos for Red 1 going to poom belts and above and “double promotions” recommendations must be pre-recorded and email to colournpoom.grading@gmail.com by the 10th November  2021.

All payments and the grading cards for the 182nd  grading must be submitted by the 30th November  2021 or late payment fees will be imposed.

Important note for all video/s submission:

  1. All videos MUST be in MP4 format. Videos not in MP4 format will be rejected.
  2. The file name and candidate name MUST be the same as that of the registered person for easy identification.
  3. All the videos taken must be in one file. You can take the videos at different time but it has to be edited / linked together as ONE file. This will help to facilitate and hasten the grading process by examiners. In the case of videos NOT linked as a single file, videos will be rejected.
  4. The video will have to be in the proper grading procedure. ie : Compulsory pattern, optional pattern(s), basic kick, followed by one round of 1 minute shadow sparring.
  5. For the PPass going for confirmation, coaches will have to indicate the comments from previous grading and which portion/s of the grading process needs to be confirmed.
  6. DO NOT send multiple emails with the videos to the different emails as that would only clog up the emails. You will receive a reply once your email/video is received and the videos are in order.

SENIOR DAN (3rd going 4th and above)

This being the third quarter of the year’s grading, there will be a Senior Dan grading. This will be an actual live grading and it will be conducted at NTC on the 6th November 2021. The schedule and timing of the grading will be announced after closing date.

Kindly refer to the grading syllabus in the STF website if you are unsure.

Closing date for registration will be on 25 October 2021.

Good afternoon Members of the Singapore Taekwondo Federation, We are pleased to attach the 1st Notice of Meeting to our 44th AGM 2021 which will be held on Saturday, 25 September 2021, 1400hrs via electronic means.

It is relevant to note that under Clause 8.6 of the STF Constitution, only Full Members shall have full voting rights at STF’s General Meetings.
