The STF has problems receiving and sending emails from some email addresses for quite some time. It has become worse lately. Therefore, the STF has no choice but to change its email address.
With immediate effect, the STF new email address is as follows:
Prof Jung Kook Hyun, Olympic and 4-time World Champion, was in Singapore from 20 to 24 October 2011 to conduct two sparring workshops. He shared his secrets of what makes a champion to more than 50 lucky participants who found his teaching fun, vibrant and enlightening.
Interesting feedback was received after the workshops.
Said Adrian Lim of Apex TKD: “When I was a young, I looked up to Prof Jung as my idol. He was really fantastic. It was my good fortune that I had the opportunity to meet him in person at the workshop and, as a bonus, learn from him.”
Many participants were of the view that the workshops were not only value for money but also an excellent opportunity to pick up important points on sparring. They felt that it was a great loss for those who did not attend the workshops.
At the end of each workshop, the participants queued up to take pictures with Prof Jung. Some of them brought the discs produced by Prof Jung for him to autograph while the more ‘enterprising’ brought pictures taken with them for him to sign the next day.
While Prof Jung was in Singapore, he visited Induk TKD where one of his students was teaching. He also watched the TEAMgOLD members having their weekly session a the National Training Centre.
Said Prof Jung before he left Singapore: “I am glad that I accepted the invitation of the STF to conduct the workshops. During my stay in Singapore, I learned a lot of things. The country is clean and green and the people are very warm and friendly. The food was delicious. And the various initiatives undertaken by the STF are new to me.
“I am very impressed with the scheme to encourage those not-so-young to continue training. This is something I will bring back and share with my students.
“I would like to thank Mr Milan Kwee and many other officials including those from Induk TKD for making my visit to Singapore a memorable one.”

The workshop is open to red (senior and junior), poom and black belt holders.
The primary objective of the workshop is to point out to participants their performance flaws and the areas they should work on from the examiners’ perspective. This will give the candidates a better chance of passing.
During the workshop, participants will be briefed on the grading guidelines and the expectations of the examiners.
Coaches may use the information acquired by their students at the workshop as a basis to guide them for their grading.
All candidates who have attended the workshop are reminded to submit a copy of the certificate of participation with their grading applications. For red (junior) and 1st poom candidates, a copy of the certificate should be attached to their grading cards. This is necessary for the examiners to give them special consideration, if required.
Prof Lee Kyu Seok, who is concurrently the Senior Vice-President and Secretary-General of Asian Taekwondo Union (ATU) and a long-time technical advisor of the Singapore Taewondo Federation (STF), was in Singapore from 3 to 5 September 2011.
During his visit, Prof Lee met STF President, Mr Milan Kwee, and some members of the Management Committee at the STF office. He was briefed on the development of taekwondo in Singapore and kept updated on the coming SEA Games taekwondo event.
Among other things, Prof Lee informed Mr Kwee of the coming ATU Extraordinary Meeting which would be held before the Asian Olympic Qualification in Bangkok in November 2011 and the Asian Championships in April 2012.
For Mr RA Jeyaraman, STF Advisor to the President, it was a nostalgic moment meeting Mr Lee. He showed Mr Lee a letter which Mr Lee sent him on 21 August 1979 – that is more than 30 years ago! They spoke about the times they met in Korea.
Said Mr Jeyaraman: “I appreciate the warm hospitality Mr Lee showed me when I was in Korea training in his gymnasium. He was an excellent but very strict instructor. That was probably the reason for his students’ outstanding achievements in the international competition. Some of them were World Champions.”
Before leaving for Korea, Prof Lee said that he was impressed with the effort made by STF in the propagation of taekwondo. He encouraged the STF to continue to pro-actively promote taekwondo as a character building sport.
It has been brought to the attention of the Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) that some individuals and companies have infringed on the use of the STF trademarks.
They have used STF trademarks – that is the STF logo, the STF word design or both – without the permission of the STF.
Those who are using the STF logo in their Facebook or the STF trademarks on taekwondo training uniforms or other goods without authorization are advised to cease doing so. Otherwise, the STF has no choice but to take legal action against the offender.
As the STF trademarks are part of the intellectual property of the organization, the STF will not tolerate their unauthorized use and hence will take serious action to show its intolerance.
The World Taekwondo Federation has introduced the Global Membership System recently. Some countries have already had their taekwondo members registered. And hence, their membership is recognized worldwide.
The Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) after due consideration of the system has decided to encourage its members to join the membership as membership has its privileges. Among other things members are recognized by the WTF.
The card will include your name, title, grade and country. The national grade (if it is higher than your Kukkiwon grade) will be reflected on your card which will be accepted as your taekwondo identity in 200 WTF member countries in the world. Your record in the sport will also be kept in the database which you can access when required.
It is good for members to join NOW as they will enjoy having smaller membership serial numbers. On top of that, it will make it easier for our members to participate in local championships in future as the STF is planning to make it compulsory for its members to participate in its various events.
Registration is open to all taekwondo members regardless of their grades – color, poom or black. The registration fee is $25 per year.
Clubs with interested members who want to be in the first batch should email the STF at tkdf@pacific.net.sg for the forms by Friday 21 October 2011. Submission closes on Monday 24 October 2011.
The Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) will be organizing its 38th Anniversary Dinner and Dance on Saturday 23 June 2012 at 6.30pm at Orchard Hotel, Grand Ballroom.
The Organizing Committee under Dr Ho Mun Wai, 1st Vice-President of STF, had already started preparing for the event to ensure that it will be better than the last Dinner & Dance held in 2010 which was considered the best ever STF anniversary function.
The 2010 function was a resounding success with more than 1,050 guests having a time of their lives. After the event, some of them were asking for the next one. And the next one is about 9 months away.

If you want your table(s) to be near the stage, you are advised to do book the table(s) early.
More information on the advertising rates and the ticket price will be announced at a later date.

Three 1st class national referees, Tan Kok Heng, Tan Kok Seng and Michael Ho Kee Khoon, went to Gold Coast, Australia from 13 to 16 September 2011 to attend the 67th International Referee Course conducted by the World Taekwondo Federation.
After three days of training, they went through theory and practical tests. With years of experience as local referees, they had no problem with the assessments. However, they were not sure what the outcome would be.
Just like many students anxiously waiting for their important examination results, they were on tenterhooks. They were relieved of their anxiety yesterday. All of them qualified as international referees and were on cloud nine.
They certainly have the Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) to thank as it fully sponsored their trip, training and test.
With three new international referees, the STF has 13 international referees including Steven Soh who is a first-class international referee.
